I mean holy crap man, I really don’t think facebook can become any more profitable. The share prices dropped multiple times on friday which last time I checked is a bad indicator. Maybe i’m just jealous of mark z. because i’m not a billionaire but I think alot of people just wasted their money. For the sake of all that money and our economy I hope facebook will add something more to their arsenal other than just their social media engine.
I heard a story on NPR’s All Things Considered (which I can’t seem to find a transcript of) that was talking about what exactly Facebook is selling. One of the people the were interviewing suggested that they could use their social media engine for more than just selling advertising— like actually facilitating connections between people, companies, and other entities that are useful in the real world. Think OZ’s role in commerce and communication in Summer Wars.
