I really dig that paragraph, Beta. I think it accomplishes the goals you set for yourself in writing this in that it is a Mockingjay crossover, and Rapunzel’s character is still very much intact. Even in the first paragraph.

What’s with ff.net these days? I know you’ve posted about it in the past few weeks: their need to add a graphic element to each story; the way stats for each story are now visible to everyone. I think you’re right in assessing that they’re trying to catch up with the social network platform that kind of permeates everything lately. And I don’t think that’s necessary; people who frequent the site don’t do so for its visual element— it’s not deviantart or tumblr. By virtue of what it is, it’s just going to be text-heavy. Also— it’s a site of fan-generated content, so of course it’s going to be hit-or-miss sometimes, which is why I think they’re making stats visible now. And, yeah, that’s totally going to make me feel self-conscious. I tried not to pay too much attention to my own, and now I have to look at the likes of Airplane and Fabulist.
